Elves 11 (ish!)

The Elves 11 trail run organised by top day events started at Maldon Prom Park on Sunday morning – fancy dress was optional.Β No, I didn’t dress up πŸ™„ A group of 6 of us met up at the start to set off together, it was very windy and I am not sure I was wearing enough layers.Β  I felt ready for this run, I was looking forward to the group of us sticking together and enjoying the morning.

Then we hit the seawall. All those memories came back, the 75 miles of it – I was looking out for Bradwell knowing it would be close by mocking me.Β  I think I am always going to feel that way about the seawall but in all honesty it was the fond memories that came back to me – this bodes well with the return of the mojo πŸ™ƒ.

There was a lot of fields to follow, the instructions were clear and easy to read but it was windy and a little on the cold side.Β  I was glad to be running this in our group, its not one I would have been able to complete on my own – I really needed the support from others and the half way check point was well stocked with goodies (I could eat the twiglets) which always helps.

I think we were all ready to see the finish line and smell the bacon! I am not going to pretend it has helped me look forward to New Years Eve’s escapades but I managed 11ish miles without wanting to curl up in a ball and die – success πŸ‘πŸΌ.

Lessons learnt:

1) Running around fields gets boring 😬

2) When I’m bored I want to eat 🐽

3) Music can sometimes help the miles away 🎢 (even if it is Christmas music πŸ™„)

4) I can not be trusted with reading the instructions on a trail πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
