Getting back to parkrun this weekend felt great, although it’s only been about 4 weeks since my last visit it felt more like 40! I love the atmosphere of a parkrun and really enjoyed the run round with Tina and Jo, we had a good chat whilst still working hard (Aaron it was no coffee morning! π) and had a great little push at the end which I think we can go as far as saying was a sprint finish. I’m not going to lie, I really enjoyed that competitive push to the finish but I did find the parkrun hard this week. It doesn’t seem to matter what distance I am running or how fast I am going it’s just not feeling easy or comfortable for me at the moment. I appreciate this is probably down to still recovering from Saltmarsh75 but that doesn’t mean I am taking it well, I would really like to get back to full fitness – and quickly.
I need to take it sensibly and ease back into it, I learnt on Tuesday that I can’t expect to go straight back into my normal group at club and keep up with everyone – that’s just not happening π€¦π»ββοΈ. What I can do is take a step back, look at the full picture and keep putting the effort in to improve. Having started a Nutrition and Weight management course this week (more to come on this π), it will give me a great opportunity to smarten up my fuelling which I am hoping in turn will help with my fitness. Having enjoyed the parkrun so much this week I have to admit I am feeling quite excited for my upcoming parkrun tourism (I’m pretty sure Tina is too π¬), looking at the spreadsheet the first two visits are Mersea (although I have already done this one there is a takeover in early November which I always enjoy) and Burnham – both scheduled in for November so watch this space!
