Training started off pretty shocking this week. I don’t know where my mojo and energy disappeared to but I would like it to come back sharpish. Tuesday was speed work and I struggled, for the first time since joining the club I didn’t finish the training session and gave up on the timed mile at the end. Half way round I just stopped 🤦🏻♀️ new nickname – Arfa (I prefer Rachet).
So, Wednesday morning I dragged myself out of bed and got myself to a spin class, although I have attempted this before I wanted to give it another shot (padded pants are the way forward 😉). I think I would even say I even enjoyed it! Hard work that’s for sure, I came out sweating more than I knew was possible so I am really hoping this will improve my fitness and complement my running. I am booked in again for next week 😀.
Thursdays training session – well that was the hardest I’ve worked post marathon! Efforts, and yes it really was an effort for me 😳 Luckily I was paired with Phill who really helped me keep going and gave me some tips on sorting my breathing out – definitely some great advice which I will be practising over the next few weeks. I think it’s safe to say I need to work on tempo runs but I’ve got to admit I really enjoyed it. I know I can improve and need to put some more effort in but I felt great after that run (well, I felt knackered but in that great way we all know and love 😏). Bring on July with lots of challenges to look forward to 😁.
Not only did I finally manage to update my scrap book this week (#runninggeek back in full force 👍🏼), but I’m very happy that the blog I wrote for Runr.co.uk has been published on their website. You can read it here – https://www.runr.co.uk/blogs/news/why-i-run
